Payback! 5 former governors being probed by their successors

Some of the governors, who handed over to their successors on May 29, may not be having the kind of life they envisioned after leaving office.

Their successors are bent on probing their activities while they were in office.

Some of the governors are insisting that they would investigate their predecessors, no matter what.

Those going through this ordeal are the ones who failed in their bid to impose their stooges as successors, being that they lost the governorship election to the opposition party.

Below is a list of former governors being probed by their successors.

1. Rotimi Amaechi: He was the former governor of Rivers state. His successor, Governor Nyesom Wike is probing him for looting the state’s fund during his eight year tenure.

2. Gabriel Suswam: He was governor of Benue state for eight years before successfully handing over to Samuel Ortom. He is being probed for diverting N48 billion meant for local government funds into his private accounts.

3. Isa Yaguda: The successor of the former governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar inaugurated a committee to investigate all major contracts awarded by Yaguda. Abubakar is investigating all major financial transactions within the eight years of Yuguda’s tenure.

4. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu: The current governor of Niger state, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello said his administration had already commenced probe into the Aliyu’s administration. Aliyu reportedly left a debt of N57bn for his successor.
