Troops Being Deployed to Intimidate Electorates, Says S/South PDP

By Onyebuchi Ezigbo

The South-South Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Thursday raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration to rig Saturday’s re- run election into the state Assembly and the National Assembly.

Ojoughoh said the massive deployment of the military personnel to Rivers State was aimed at arm twisting the electorate and hand over the election re-run in River State to APC”.
PDP cautioned that “any attempt to rig the election will not only led to anarchy but a crisis whose end cannot be determined by anybody”.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday by its South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Dr. Cairo Ojoughoh.

Ojoughoh urged the PDP supporters in the State “to defend their votes, obey all civil rules, avoid anything that can led to confrontation with the Military, adding that they should ” stand firmly to collate their results at the polling units and follow it up to the collation centres “.

The statement reads in part,” It has come to the notice of the PDP South-South that the APC government plans to rig the River State Government re run elections”.

“The PDP South-South notes that the PDP government in River State is a responsive and responsible government and is determined to protect lives and properties of the good people of River State”.
