Bukola Saraki, the Senate president on Thursday, April 14, has reiterated the commitment of the Senate to ensure the missing Chibok girls abducted two years ago by Boko Haram insurgents were returned safely to their families.

Members of the Women Arise for Change Initiative were received at the National Assembly by the Senate leadership

The Senate president said this when the Women Arise for Change Initiative led by its president, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin visited the Senate leadership in Abuja as part of activities to mark the second year anniversary of the Chibok girls abduction.

I want to assure you that none of us would rest until the Chibok girls are safely rescued. We will play our roles to give all the support we can and I think that we must commend our officers and men for having done very well. However, we urge all our security agencies to do more because we can only say you have done very well after the girls are back to their families. Anything else is just an effort and work in progress,” he said.

Thursday, April 14, made it exactly two years over 200 girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Borno state by the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents.

Their abduction had caused a worldwide outrage with many calling for their release but till date they are still missing, except for the few who managed to escape.

All efforts to rescue the girls from the insurgents and reunite them with their parents has proved abortive.

On the second anniversary of the kidnap of over 200 Chibok schoolgirl, in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents.

He said he shared in the pain of the parents over the continued absence of the missing Chibok girls from home.
