It seems that not a day goes by without more headlines about continued agitation in support of Biafra.

Despite a bloody civil war decades ago in which millions of Nigerians lost their lives, support for the failed state project remains strong in some parts of the country.

Agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra Movement (IPOB) and its supporters in favour of Biafra continues to dominate the headlines, and with one the group’s lead Nnamdi Kanu still on trial, that is not likely to change soon.

It seems like the chaos and fear surrounding the Biafra issue is not likely to go away anytime soon, so we should ask ourselves the question at the core of IPOB’s campaign of agitation:  Will IPOB succeed in creating an independent state of Biafra?

The question is a difficult one to ask for many given the bitter memories and hard emotions associated with the civil war, but Nigerians everywhere are now wondering if IPOB will succeed, for better or worse.
