Crisis: FUTA suspends 3 union chairmen, 20 other members

Akure—THE crisis at the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Ondo state, took a new dimension as the school management yesterday suspended 23 workers of the institution for alleged insubordination and disobedience to the constituted authority.
Those suspended included leaders of the three non academic unions who called for the removal of the embattled Vice Chancellor, Prof Adebiyi Daramola over his invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Three unions in the institution, the National Association of Academic Technologists NAAT, Non Academic. Staff Union NASU and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University SSANU have embarked on protest since October 6.
A letter signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mrs Modupe Ajayi announced the suspension of the workers.
Ajayi recalled that in a letter earlier sent to the union leaders the university governing council noted among other things that the crisis has caused incalculable loss and damage to the university.
The suspended union leaders include the Chairmen of the three protesting unions,SSANU Chairman Dele Durojaiye Mr Bayo, Aladerotohun of NASU and A EOmoraka of NAAT.
Others include Mike Opirijite, Remi Egunjobi,Bunmi Ayo –Alafe, Felix Adunbi, Obe Rotimi, Aladesuyi Ajoke,Philip O. Jayeoba, Akanji Justinah, Adefolarin Adesida and Ruth Bakare.
Others include Faola M.P, S. Arokoyu, Asante J.S, Thomas Aina, Oladepo J.A, Nelson Njoku Bello O.R,Fagbamiye-Akinwale O.M, Imolore M.O and Mathew Fayiwole.
