They won’t be forgotten and Lucas Leiva will hold them in his hearts forever, as he admits he found it hard to focus after the crash that claimed the lives of Chapecoense team and staff.

At least 70 people lost their lives in the tragic Monday incident, when a chartered plane carrying Chapecoense players and staff to the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Nacional in Medellin, Colombia.
And Lucas who captained Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Leeds in the quarterfinals of the EFL cup, admits it was hard to focus due to the fact that he knew a few of the players who died.
“It was a terrible accident. I have a few people that I played with [on the flight], some young players,” Lucas told Sky Sports, having led his team in a minute’s silence before the match.
“It was very hard for me to play tonight because I know a lot of people there.
“We just hope that the families have the support that they need and the victims rest in peace.”
