Chairman Attributes Akeredolu’s Victory to God, Masses Desire for Change


… Says PDP’s Crisis, Ouster Are Self Inflicted

The All Progressives Congress (APC), national Vice Chairman, south-south, Ntufam Hilliard Etta, on Thursday congratulated the Ondo State Governor-elect, Mr.  Rotimi Akeredolu, attributing his victory at the polls to divine intervention and the peoples’ quest for change.

This is just as the APC chieftain urged the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to accept the outcome of the election in good faith, saying her internal crisis and eventual ouster at the poll were self inflicted.

The Chairman spoke during an interaction with some Journalists  in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

He said going by his antecedent and capacity, Akeredolu’s victory at the just concluded election was well deserved.

Etta described Akeredolu as a seasoned progressive and legal practitioner, with all it takes to transform Ondo State.

He debunked the allegation  that the APC instigated the crisis within the state branch of the PDP, in order to win the  guber election.

“God orchestrated that at this time, Akeredolu should be the one to carry the party’s flag in Ondo state.

“His antecedent cannot be overemphasized. These is a seasoned progressive, a lawyer with outstanding capacities, and his love for his people is unparalleled.

“Note, the desire of the people of Ondo state to have a shift from the past, was the basis on which the election was predicated.

While fielding questions on the allegation against the APC, Etta said ” These things are in the precinct of speculations.

“The crisis in the PDP is self-  inflicted. It started long ago, with the issue of harmonization; when you hear people talking of marrying a list, instead of canvassing for votes.

” In every of her election, you find a colony of disenchanted and dissatisfied membership, and you think one day they would not have a voice. That is exactly what happened to the PDP and that is what is fuelling the crisis in the party.

“The PDP needs to be recreated, if the party must be in existence.”
