Group Partners International Observers On Rivers Rerun


A Civil Society group known as the Civil Society Alliance for Sustainable Democracy (CSASD) has initiated a partnership with the African Union Elections Observation Mission ahead of the December 10 legislative elections rerun in Rivers State.

Rising from a Roundtable in Abuja on Wednesday, the group through its Convener, Comrade Idris Usman says the essence of the meeting was to call the attention of the International Community, to beam its searchlight on Rivers State in the days ahead of the Rivers rerun.

The group says it is disturbed by the threat of violence and the desperate attempt by Federal government backed Rivers State chapter of the APC, to win the election at all cost.

The group accused some people which it described as Abuja based politicians of seriously planning to manipulate the will of the people of Rivers State during the election.

Comrade Usman says the group has secured the assurance of the African Union observers and other International bodies for an unbiased of assessment of the political situation in Rivers State before, during and after the election.

In furtherance of its determination to ensure that the will of the people prevail during the polls, the group says it is embarking on an aggressive Social media mobilization and sensitization which has been tagged#StandUpForRiverRerun.
