Local App Takes Top Prize At 2016 AppsAfrica Awards

We love ourselves a bit of technology, and if it makes life a little easier then we’ll have a second helping please.

You have to hit one out the park, though, if you want to take top prize at the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards.

Especially when you’re competing for the Disruptive Innovation Award, which honours technology that throws a spanner in the works of traditional business models.

It really is quite the achievement for Domestly to have won first prize then, with this from the AppsAfrica website:

Domestly is advancing the way the world cleans their homes. By utilising technology to connect cleaning professionals directly to homeowners, they make housekeeping more affordable and accessible to everyone, and at the same time create business and opportunities for cleaners.

The platform provides job creation for women, empowering South African women who are unemployed or underemployed. Domestly cleaners can set their own rates. Not only does this offer the customers a range of rates to choose from, but it also allows the cleaner to control her earning power.

Well played team, this award will look mighty fine sat next to the MTN App of the Year trophy – and congrats on shaking things up.

The real joy here of this app, though, is that it’s a win-win situation.

Users get to book someone they know they can trust – each member is checked, with references – and cleaners get to set their own half-day and full-day rates.

Here, for example, is a screenshot of the profile that each member offers:

Schedule a regular booking, make a booking for as soon as the next day (perfect for the Airbnb summer months), change between a half and full-day depending on the work load…no worries.

You’ll also see there is the option to ‘buy a subscription’, which is just one of the fantastic new features.

There are  Domestly Subscriptions, where users can now book their favourite Domestly Cleaner via subscription. Their subscription offering now allows you to sign up for a 3, 6 or 12-month period.

You can now get your same cleaner, repeated every week on your selected schedule. You can pay monthly via debit order for the subscription duration plus you can cancel at any time (one month’s notice required).

Should you select a 6 or 12-month subscription you will receive a 5 or 8 percent discount respectively on your monthly payment.

Then there’s Domestly for Business, for small to medium size companies who do not require a full-time cleaner or companies who aren’t looking to hire someone full time.

They offer businesses fully vetted & checked cleaners demonstrating formal office cleaning experience. Should your cleaner not be available they will arrange a replacement on request or short notice additional cleaning help.

This also comes with the option to cancel your subscription or cleaning session at any time, with just one month’s notice prior to cancelling.

Don’t worry technophobes, if apps aren’t your thing then you can use the regular website HERE.
