Former Minister of State for Works, Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi, on Friday insisted that the only way Nigeria can tackle the growing rate of unemployment in the Country is for state government all level to develop and encourage the youths to embrace Technical and Vocational training.
The Technocrat spoke who was the Chief Launcher at a Public Presentation of a book written by the Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe, with the titled “Realities of Nigerian Education” noting that the author had thought it wise to come out with the book which will serve as road map to educationist and policy makers.
While appreciating the initiative of the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to revamp the dilapidated Edo Technical College says it time to change our educational syllabus to reflex modern reality that will prepare our youths to be self –sustaining after graduating from tertiary institutions.
Ogiemwonyi who poured encomium on the author described him as a man of strong character and good reputation that should be emulated by all.
“He said “the time has come for all to introduce entrepreneurship into our educational curriculum because today we have thousands of youths roaming the streets without jobs after graduation. We have to look inwards and do something now so that our sons and daughters can be on their own and that is the new paradigm we must embrace. Country like China have been able do this.
The book launch which had in attendance array of dignitaries included Retired former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, former Minister of Defense, Gen Godwin Abbe, Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and the Esogban of Benin, Chief Solomon Edebiri.
