Benue: Rubies Lion Club International Embarks On Tree Planting At IDP Camp
In a bid to cautioned the effect of global warming on the environment, Rubies Lion Club international, Makurdi branch has commenced the
planting of varieties of economic trees at the IDP Shelter Camp located along Ukpam road in Guma local government area of Benue state The Club Centenial president, Barr Patricia Kupchi who led other members of the club to carry out the planting, said the choice of IDP Camp is borne out of the club’s service to humanity and the need for a healthy living through protection of the environment especially in places that are crowded.
“Many people think it is only food and non food materials that can be taken to IDPs but I want to know that there are lots of other things that bothered on the environment that are needed in this camp other than food. As you can see these threes being planted today will provide shelter as well as food when they are mature and this will have direct impact on the lives of those living here.”
She appealed to the IDPs to provide the necessary protection and security for the trees to grow fast and healthy to serve them.
