Full-On Brawl In Taiwan’s Parliament [Video]

Sometimes it’s nice to know that the rest of the world is pretty dysfunctional, too.

It’s no secret that our Parliament, especially when it comes to ‘Grab your popcorn and wait for fists to fly’ night (or SONA, as it’s more commonly known), can descend into absolute chaos.

We say embrace it and play the ‘honourable member’ drinking game, although I don’t know what the people of Taiwan use to cope with their mess.

There were actually two days worth of fights, both Thursday and Friday ending in a slug-fest, as HuffPost SA reports:

[It] stemmed from budget proposals for an infrastructure development plan put forward by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, led by President Tsai Ing-wen.

DPP representatives attempted to intervene after members of the opposition Kuomintang party took the floor, triggering the chaos. The session was subsequently adjourned.

Video shows legislators knocking each other to the ground, shouting, spraying water across the room and striking each other as Taiwanese Premier Lin Chuan looks on.

Do enjoy:

Come on Taiwan, where are all the hard hats?

Politics – gross.
