Child Sexual Abuse: Group Commences Advocacy Ahead Of Abuja Conference

To give justice to victims of child sexual exploitation and deter would-be offenders, a coalition of international non governmental (INGO) and their counterparts from the civil society organisation (CSO) have commence a sensitisation programmes aimed at bringing Nigerians and other Africans up to speed on how to seek justice for victims of sexual abuses.

In a statement by Jose Foundation made available to LEADERSHIP Friday in Abuja, the Foundation president, Prince Martins Abhulimhen, said the one-day conference to held in United Kingdom on January 5, 2018 is a preparatory programme to further create awareness ahead of the proposed workshop/training on curbing child sexual exploitation (CSE) billed for Abuja.

Lead speakers: director, Safeguarding Children Training and Consultancy, Adele Gladman and chair, Swinton Locks Rotherham United Kingdom, Mrs Jayne Senior MBE.

“Making Justice Work for Victims of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation is a unique 1 day conference which gives those attendants the chance to see the criminal justice system like you have never seen it before.

“This is an event which is relevant for all those services supporting vulnerable child witnesses and historical victims, as well as those working within the criminal justice system.

“We are thrilled to have the support of the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire who will be opening the event as well as a range of high profile speakers-survivors and their family members, senior representatives from central government, survivors, highly experienced practitioners, and academia sharing their practical experience and the latest research.

“In sharing innovative work across the UK, this conference offers true value for money, enabling participants to gain unique insights from a range of perspectives to take back into practice. We are thrilled to already have participants attending from the National Crime Agency, IPCC and the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
