Reports That Atul Gupta Tried To Flee The Country, Pilot Refused To Take Off

Wow, this week just keeps on serving up the surprises.

Mail & Guardian is reporting that there is a manhunt underway for both Duduzane Zuma and Atul Gupta, and it’s clear that neither is all that keen to hand themselves over.

We have already heard from the Hawks about what they found in the “rabbit warren” that is the Gupta compound at Saxonwold, but get a load of this:

On Thursday, The Star newspaper reported that one of Duduzane’s business associates, Atul Gupta, was picked up while trying to flee the country.  According to the report, the pilot of the private aircraft Atul was on, refused to fly from Lanseria airport.

I think the country owes that pilot a hearty thanks, because that is pure class. Take a bow.

Here’s that report via this tweet from Jonathan Witt (@Jonathan_Witt):

The suspects arrested during the Hawks crackdown are appearing in court right now – you can follow live updates here.

We will finish with this from a Times LIVE story earlier today headlined ‘Inside the hunt for Atul Gupta‘:

As the Hawks swooped on the Guptas’ Saxonwold, Johannesburg, compound on Wednesday morning seeking high-profile suspects, they found instead a “warm bed” — a sign that someone had awoken and fled.

Looks like Cyril isn’t the only one running.
