The governor gave the nod through a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde on Thursday, the Punch said.

According to the statement, the decision to re-open the market followed the outcome of the meeting and agreement reached with all the stakeholders involved in the operation of the Mile 12 market.

It was gathered that the outcome of the stakeholders meeting held between the traders, traditional leaders in the Agiliti and Maidan communities, residents and Community Development Association was also influential in the re-opening.

Among the agreements were that there would be no street trading in the area and that all activities relating to the market would take place within the market.

The commissioner listed other agreements between the government and the stakeholders to include, the relocation of the market; ban of commercial motorcyclists in the area and removal of shanties and illegal structures.

The Commissioner, who stressed that business could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, assured people of all tribes that Lagos is a home for all and that the state government would continue to provide the enabling environment for all.
