Don’t Breach League Agreement, Coaches Warn Handball Federation

After several years of inactivity, the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has fianlly attracted sponsorship for its premier league which will feature 23 teams expected to begin in Kaduna on April 11.

The president of the Nigerian Handball Coaches Association, Chief John Emmanuel Jatau, has, however, pointed out to the federation that, though the sponsorship was a welcome development, it would do well to make good use of the opportunity.

The league will be sponsored by Banjoko Oli & Gas.

Jatau called on the HFN president to reject suggestions by some board members aimed at scuttling the sponsorship deal, which he said was meant for the premiership.

“No sponsor who has prepared to sponsor the highest competition will accept spending his money for a lower championship. It will be wrong for the HFN to allow the secretary and few individuals in the board who over the years have not been able to attract any sponsor to the federation to make us lose the one we have gotten because of their selfish ambitions. The clubs are intact and their management are ready to sponsor them for the league,” he explained.
