FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Canada’s coach relishes Falconets challenge

CANADA’S U-20 Women’s national team coach, Danny Worthington is relishing the challenge of facing Silver winning Nigeria’s Falconets in the group stage of the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Papua, New Guinea.
Reacting to the draws that paired Canada against Nigeria, Worthington, said his wards had been handed a stiff test in Group B, insisting that he was excited about facing the different mixtures styles of play.
This was even as Coach Peter Dedevbo, was brimming with confidence about the intimidating pedigree of his wards, with his focus mostly on surpassing the previous record of runners-up feat achieved at the 2014 edition hosted by Canada.
Nigeria and Canada will trade tackles on November 16 at the Bava Park in Port Moresby.
“Across the board when you get to that level – the under-20 World Cup – I think every game’s a tough game,” “I’m excited actually, excited about it.
“You’ve got a mixture of styles of play that we’re going to face.”Worthington said from Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Dedevbo had assured that Falconets will not start the tournament as underdogs when the tournament kicks off in Papua New Guinea by November.
“I don’t see why we need to fear any team. Rather, those teams should be the ones to be scared. Our pedigree at this level is intimidating.
“However, we would not be under-rating any of Spain, Canada or Japan. Our principle, as always, would be to take it one match at a time and focus on our objective of doing Nigeria proud.”
A total of 32 games would be played among the 16 participating countries in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to decide the winner of this year’s edition of the tournament.
