The Kano state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Umar Doguwa, the chairman of the party.

According to Premium Times Doguwa was accused of being loyal to former governor of Kano state Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is now a senator.

The state party leaders and chairman of the state’s 44 local government areas attended the meeting where the chairman was suspended.

Abbas Sani Abbas, the APC secretary, immediately announced the appointment of Abdullahi Abbas, a former commissioner for the environment, as acting chairman.

In his speech, Abbas suggested that Doguwa was being punished for being loyal to Kwankwaso instead of switching allegiance to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ibrahim Karaye, the chairman of ALGON in Kano, said that all the 44 local government chairmen endorsed the suspension of Doguwa and the appointment of Abbas as his replacement.

Earlier this week, the House of Assembly impeached the chief whip of the House, Zubairu Mahmud, over his loyalty to the former governor.

The impeachment was followed by a unanimous vote of confidence passed on Governor Ganduje by 34 out of the 39 members of the House.

Meanwhile, Ganduje has recently said that there are no more problems in his relationship with his predecessor and added that the reconciliation moves between them were already ongoing.
