I don’t misbehave anymore–Chuddy K, singer

By Joy Umukoro

Fast rising singer, Chukwudi Ken Agali aka Chuddy K, who has been away from the scene after hitting the limelight in 2010 with his single, Gaga Going Crazy, has declared that he is
still one of Nigeria’s hottest artistes.
While recounting his heydays in a chat with Entertainer, the artist said: “I’m still one of the hottest artistes in Nigeria, no matter how you see it. It depends on how you perceive yourself and I see myself as a lion even though, people see me as a cat. I am not done yet, I am just starting and I am growing bigger.
“It’s about the music, the passion and talent and I still have them. I am coming back and I’m doing greater songs than I have done before. Right now, the industry lacks some level of creativity. I am not saying that I am the most creative but I deserve a pass mark in terms of being creative.”
Struggle continues
According to Chuddy K, his comeback to the music industry would be stronger with his forthcoming album that would be released later this year. “In 2014, I shot a video with Runtown entitled, 080, and last year, I did Go Down with Daddy Showkey.
Things get a bit messy when you are gunning for the top. I am going to achieve where people think I have already failed. If you venture into something and you don’t complete it, it does not mean you can’t continue trying. By the grace of God, I am working on completing it. I am armed with about 62 recorded songs.”
Troubled waters
Chuddy K was unarguably a fast rising act until he ran into troubled waters with his recording label’s boss and everything fell apart.
Commenting on the rift, the singer said: “You have to just settle peacefully and move on because that’s life for you. I have tried to be a better person and make things work for me; it’s good to forgive and let go. I believe God has a better plan for me.
“I am not regretting what happened because I’m alive and happy. I am more focused now because I have a wife who puts me in order. In fact, I don’t misbehave anymore in terms of clubbing, because we partied like animals back then. It’s about the future and my family now,” he confessed.
Advising record labels’ owners, Chuddy K continued: “I’ve got different experiences about how record labels should be run and how to treat your artiste. At the end of the day, it’s the artiste that makes money for the label and not you fronting as record label boss because if the artiste is not happy and fresh, that can motivate him to stand on his own. You shouldn’t enslave anybody; you just have to help them to get to the top, help them to be who they really are.
“Yes, you’re spending money, but you would even make more money. It all depends on how you manage yourself. It is not just about saying that you are the owner of the record label and just bragging, meanwhile, you’re not doing the right things.
“We might be young but one day, we will all grow up. If you keep maltreating a child, when he grows up, he will know this and that are the things you did to him. It will now be left for him to make his own choice whether to do the same thing to his own child or make his child a better person.”
