Osifo said the late Clara was on her way back from the hospital, were the daughter delivered a baby, when she was allegedly killed at the entrance to her house.

The Police in Edo said it was on the trail of a suspected teenage cultist (name withheld), who allegedly shot dead a retired headmistress, Mrs Clara Uwaifo, 65, on Wednesday night.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Osifo, on Saturday disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Osifo said the late Clara was on her way back from the hospital, were the daughter delivered a baby, when she was allegedly killed at the entrance to her house.

He said the suspect was hiding at the back of the gate, immediately he saw the victim gained entrance at her residence, he brought out his gun and shot at her from behind.

Osifo said that the suspect has been on the wanted list of the Nigeria police, as he described him as a serial killer, who must face the consequence of his actions.

The police spokesman said the force has extended its drag-net across the state in order to bring the suspect to book.

He, however, warned other cult members to desist from cultism, as the police would do everything possible to make Edo a peaceful state.
