MAUTECH Experts Chart New Course For Agriculture


Experts in the field of agriculture from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola ‎ have developed a framework for the marketing of agricultural produce as well as building capacity for  local farmers in the state.

The vice chancellor‎ of the institution, Prof Kyari Mohammed revealed this at a one day workshop with the caption ‘’Strengthening Rural Institutions for Food Security, Sustainable Livelihoods and Conflict Reduction in Adamawa State.”

According to him, the state is an agrarian area and with return of peace in the state, the university is willing to collaborate with any community in advancing their course in agric sector.

The vice chancellor who was represented by the Director, Research and Development, Professor Dimas Kubmarawa  said the objectives of the workshop was to strengthen the rural institution through the provision of linkages between the rural communities within university and research institution.

Also speaking during the occasion, Dr. Sadiq Tafida, of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology(SAAT) said the rural institutions were key players in the economic development of local communities which feed the industries in the cities.

The university don further stated that the need to strengthe their capacity through linking them with sources of inputs such as improved seeds, farming implements, improved species of cows, fingerlings, fertilizers, pesticide, grazing route and reserve these will impact positively to the communities and help to reduce poverty  and stop conflict between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
