NANS Postpones Security Workshop On Schools, Education

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has postponed a one-day security workshop tagged Operation ‘Rescue Our Schools, Education From Insurgency’ (ROSEFRI) from Saturday, March 19, 2016 to Saturday, April 16, 2016.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Tijjani Usman Shehu and Comrade Dahiru Umar, NANS national president and secretary-general respectively, the apex students body said the workshop, which is for high institutions in the country, will take place at the Main Lecture Hall of the University of Abuja.

NANS said the workshop became imperative in order to complement the federal government’s ongoing efforts at counter-insurgency particularly those targeted at schools and institutions of learning.

“We are packaging this workshop which which has already been conducted in Niger State and is already being endorsed by over 15 more states for execution so as to complement the laudable effort of government at all levels,” the group said.

NANS in partnership with Academic Excellence Promotion Centre (AEPC) and Advantage Profedu Consult (APEC) pointed out that it expects about 20 or more participants toattend the event from universities, colleges of education and polytechnics in the country including other stakeholder like security agencies.

The statement added that NANS leadership regrets any inconvenience the change of date might have caused the intending participants from across the country.
