Education 2030 vision sacrosanct – FG



The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has declared that the Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to the attainment of Education 2030 vision for the speedy development of the country.

Adamu disclosed this at the 15th Joint Convocation Ceremony for the Award of National Certificate of Education (NCE) and Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Education to 2004/2005-2015/2016 graduands of the Federal College of Education, Okene, Kogi, State in which a total of 11,947 comprising 9,625 NCE regular, 2,274 Sandwich and 48 Professional Diploma in Education graduands where presented with awards and certificates.
Represented by Professor Bappa Aliyu Muhammadu, executive secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the minister said that government would do everything possible to attain the educational goals of the nation.

He noted that capacity building for teachers and development of vocational and entrepreneurial skills were part of government’s priority goals, while congratulating the graduands, their parents and guardians for the “Joy of fulfillment.”
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State expressed happiness that the college was only one year his senior, being 42 years old, adding that his administration was set to revamp the education sector and had therefore, made it first point on the thematic areas.
Bello also assured the college management that his administration would neither trivialise education nor play politics with it as doing so would amount to playing with the future of “our children and the future of this great nation”.
He said: “We are going to revamp our educational sector and even build new structures. We are going to embark on massive renovation of schools’ structures. We are also going to embark on massive recruitment of teachers. Teachers’ salaries shall be on first line charge from now on”.
Bello also directed that a pedestrian bridge be constructed across the road opposite the college gate with a police post established in the college to ensure security of lives and property of staff and students.
He promised to push harder, the call by the institution’s Provost, Associate Professor Iyela Ajayi for upgrading of the college to a full-fledged University of Education as he commended the establishment of Centre for Skills Acquisition with a promise to support for Centre for Culture and Traditional Languages.
